The museum hosts 9 exhibitions per year in the George Jenkins Gallery that feature artwork by Polk County students. From each of these exhibitions, one piece is purchased by the Museum to be added to our Student Collection.

Photography & Digital Art – K-12

October 8 – November 13, 2011

This exhibit celebrates the creative talents of young artists from Polk County students grades K-12 showcasing their Photography and Digital Art.

Art Out Loud: Artwork by Middle School Students

An exhibition highlighting the artwork of Polk County’s middle school students.

Harrison School of the Arts Senior Exhibition

January 7 – February 12, 2012

Senior visual art students present their graduating body of artwork from the Harrison School of the Arts.

Kids Tag Art

March 9 – March 30, 2012
Reception (off site): Saturday, March 24, 10:30 a.m at Branscomb Auditorium, Florida Southern College
A program by the Polk County Tax Collector’s Office featuring license tags designed by 5th grade students from Polk County schools. All proceeds from the sale of the tags go to classroom art supplies. Order your Kids Tag Art tags HERE.

Kids Tag Art is hosted by the Polk County Tax Collectors Office and sponsored by Southern Homes, Douglass Screen Printers Inc., Vecchio, Carrier & Feldman, P.A., Florida Heart Research Institute, Junior Woman’s Club of Lakeland, Lake Wales Art Center, Polk Arts Alliance, Alphagraphics, Polk Education Foundation, the Polk County School Board and the Polk Museum of Art.

Creative Youth: Twelfth Congressional District Competition

February 18 – April 1, 2012
Reception: Saturday, February 18, 11:00 am
This annual exhibition features works from high school students in the 12th Congressional District. The exhibit is organized through the efforts of the Polk Museum of Art and the offices of U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross. The piece named the “Congressional Award” will travel to Washington, D.C., to be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol along with other winning works from districts throughout the nation.

Free to Be Me: 3rd – 5th Grade Elementary Students Exhibition

April 7 – May 13, 2012

This exhibition highlights the artwork of Polk County’s elementary school students.

VSA Exhibition

June 30 – July 28, 2012
Reception: Saturday, June 30, 11:00 am
This exhibition highlights work from VSA Arts program of Polk County. This program is for gifted and emotionally, physically and mentally challenged students who are enrolled in Polk County Schools. The art works selected for the exhibition represent a wide variety of media and techniques.
